Postpartum Transitioning -for Parents

Mental, emotional, and logistical preparation for the process of establishing a breastfeeding relationship.

Join us for a unique experience of working through the Bridge to Breastfeeding program to prepare for every element of the postpartum period while establishing breastfeeding.

This is two 3 hour classes (6 hours total), during which we will cover

  • How birth effects breastfeeding

    • maximizing the benefits of birth choices while minimizing potential negative affects on breastfeeding

  • How to prepare mentally and emotionally for the intensity of life with a newborn

  • How to prepare and support your body for postpartum and lactation

  • How to set up your support network to fit your feeding goals

  • How to prepare your home for the transitional phase and juggling new demands

    • everything from product choices to furniture arrangement to distribution of responsibilities

  • Overcoming challenges through adaptivity and resilience

At the end of all this, you will have the tools and support to create a Vision or “Breastfeeding Plan,” similar to a Birth Plan, that will facilitate communicating your wants, wishes, and desires to all your care providers.

The goal of Bridge to Breastfeeding is to develop realistic expectations of the postpartum window of time, during which breastfeeding is being established, to allow you to be present and so that this fleeting time with your newborn can be enjoyable.
